Saturday Nine

1. What’s the remedy for you to stop worrying?

Praying and reading my Bible. I know that must sound trite and “grandmotherly” to some, but all I can say is, don’t knock it til you try it! God specializes in zapping the worrying bug!

2. What is your favorite summertime beverage?

Ice cold water! When the ice is half-melted and condensation is running down the outside of the glass. Aaahhh!

3. Do you use any freeware on your computer? If yes, do tell.

Um…the hubs manages all of that. I have NO clue.

4. What is one thing about your home that has to be just so or it drives you crazy when it comes to organization?

I hate it when the labels in the pantry, spice rack, etc. aren’t facing out so I can see them at first glance. And since the guys in my life do 99% of the grocery putting-away (hey, I do ALL the shopping!) I get crazy over this often!

5. Is there a specific subject you’re especially curious about? A person? A region of the world? An animal? A field of study?

Anthropology. I’ve always been fascinated by what real life was like in the past.

6. What do you consider your most interesting trait?

I suppose that would be my overall creativity. Whether it’s art, cooking, teaching or writing-related, it’s one thing that people comment on.

7. What is something that really frightens you, and can you trace it back to an event in your life?

Yes—vomiting! I’m kind-of OK if I know it’s coming, but when one of the kids starts puking out of the blue, it’s all I can do to not have a panic attack. Or if I’m out in public and someone near me spews, I am beyond mortified. I can totally trace it back to when my little sister and I shared a full-size bed. I was about 8 or so  and had very long hair. She had a stomach virus and puked in my hair, while we were sleeping. Waking up to find my hair soaked in someone else’s vomit just totally wigged me out. I have been a vomit-phobe ever since. But, see item #1. When one of my kids is sick, my mother’s heart hurting for them, and my prayer, makes me able to handle the barfing. But it still really takes a lot of inner strength to keep myself together. (This is also why I actively avoid people with stomach viruses, and send sickies to StopTheStomachFlu.com to educate themselves about transmitting the virus so that perhaps we can avoid catching a few of them.)

8. Who do you want to yell at to “get a grip!”?

Myself, when I have to deal with puking! LOL Oh, there are a LOT of people on my “get a grip” list. I can’t name them, because I enjoy living, but wow…I know a few!

9. What do you wear to particularly look great for a party or event?

Spanx. Tee hee!
