When We Learn

Someone sent me the link to this blog post the other day, and it was so insightful, I have to share it with you.  As a homeschooling parent, I am constantly worried about holes and gaps in my sons’ education. Maybe that truly is wasted time?

I know that I despised history throughout my years in public school, but now that I am exploring it again as an adult, I am simply fascinated by it. I have learned—and retained—more history in the past year than I learned my entire 12 years in public school. When we want to learn something, when we have a motivation to learn it, we learn it. Realizing that could completely change the way I approach my sons’ education.
