It runs in the family

For the past couple weeks, I’ve included the following inspirational quote in my outgoing email signature:

“If you want to live more, you must master the art of appreciating the little everyday blessings of life. This is not altogether a golden world but there are countless gleams of gold to be discovered in it.” -Henry Alfred Porter

Isn’t that lovely? It inspires me because life has been quite difficult ever since we moved to this house and took on the task of helping to care for my grandmother. Some days, those tiny nuggets of happiness are all I have to cling to.

Well, my sister Cherie definitely inherited the same sarcastic genes that make my sense of humor what it is. Because she sent me an email today with her rewritten version of the above quote:

“If you want to live less, you must master the art of complaining about the little everyday annoyances of life. This is not a perfect world. In fact, it sucks, and the only things to be discovered in it are little nuggets… steamy nuggets of poo.” ~Cherie Marie Allen

When life is tough, it sure is nice to have people who help you laugh through it!
