Today, my writers’ group went to the most awesome place: The Explorations in Antiquity Center in LaGrange, Ga.
The website does a better job than I can of explaining what they’re all about, but basically, it is like visiting the Holy Land without going to Israel. Our docent, Judy, was fabulous, and shared insights into Jewish culture that truly made the Bible come alive. At one point, I stood there a good five minutes covered in goose bumps because what she shared was so profound.
We also shared a “Last Supper” meal together (not just bread and grape juice) but a full Israeli-style feast. She taught throughout the meal and though it lasted an hour and a half, it felt more like twenty minutes. It was simply fascinating. I cannot WAIT to go back, and take the kids.
If you haven’t been, you must go. It’s truly a life-changing experience.
I am so bummed! I didn’t know about this. I would have loved to go. Oh well, maybe another time!
